Odyssey 2012 Chapter 5: The Rainbow ConnectionThe Light Train took on a new timbre around her. Her knowledge unlocked, she did not ride, but drive. The Train bent around to her command. She yelled in triumph! Backwards, to before it began. She could stop him at the start. Kaylin steered the Train, her body, soul, one with the Light. Then it fought her, bucking and twisting.
Her eyes opened. Kaylin wasn't alone. She was there. Kaylin, in purple. Kaylin, in green. Kaylin, in blue, yellow, orange, and violet. Each one steering, fighting. Yellow died first, a possible future snuffed out, and it's Light joined the Train. The others, alerted to the danger, fought back, but her Zephyr sang as their's did not. Their numbers nearly took her, but she dodged and twisted, bending the Train around her. The other Kaylin's Zephyrs spent themselves uselessly on nothing. The purple clad Kaylin stood last and best. Purple seemed to draw the powers of the defeated to her, growing in strength with each death. Face to
The Four Winds, Odyssey Into 2012 final chapterNumbers. Jackson lived them, and so did she. The Train was numbers, possibility, what might be. Nothing more.
The Train exploded. Wind whipped Kaylin's hair. She stood on a ball of glass and metal. She looked down, her stomach lurched at the distance to Time's Square below.
"Love the view."
Darus' voice caught her attention. He stood on the ball as well.
"It's five minutes to New Year's, Kaylin. We stand atop the Gate. You aren't ready, to die, end it all. You will open the gate, and we start this all again. Five thousand years of building humanity, to come back to this. Weak."
"One in four."
Kaylin gulped, dragged in breath. "Jackson said one in four times, I defeat you. Meaning, I open the gate. Three of me destroy it."
Darus froze. "Why would he tell you that?"
She shrugged. "Who knows. But, I'm me. I'm not the variable here. You are. Tell me, which Kaylin am I, savior or destroyer? Convince me, Darus."
Sunlight caught the ball just right, a
But Numbers said...Into the Station.
The Light Train pulled into it's final destination. It vanished around her, leaving the Station. A natural cave, miles wide, lit from everywhere. A lattice collected here, trails taken by the Trains. Below her, bound by steel girders and walkways, was the Eye. Source of the Zephyr, destination of every Light Train. Images flickered, a city block wide, of the same moment in time, all over the Earth. Time Square, Tokyo, London, Cairo, Bethlehem, city after city prepared for the New Years celebration, oblivious to the disaster looming three days away.
"Like ants, aren't they?" Darus' voice called from a distance
"Why are you here Kaylin? You gave up on us."
Kaylin looked up in confusion. He bore no sword, no anger. "To stop
you from destroying it all."
Her own confusion was reflected in his face. "I create Kaylin. You
destroy. That is the way of the Zephyr. And my creation reaches it's
peak at the new solar cycle. Al
Ride the Wind: Odyessey 2012 chapter one submissioMy world began at the end. In dreams, things slowly fade in, fade out, one thing becoming another. Not here. One moment was nothing, the next; screams, horns, squealing tires. A wall of sound slammed into me. Snow crunched underfoot as I stepped back from the wall inches from my face. A rough circle of bricks painted white drew my eye. Tentatively, my bare fingers reached, brushing the brickwork. The white rippled like water at my touch. Gate. The word echoed through my mind, and I knew it. A portal to another place, another when. The cold began to bite, and on instinct hands drove themselves into the pockets of my hoodie. Paper crunched in each hand. Shaking, I drew paper I didn't recognize from pockets I didn't know I had. A calendar, or, a page from a calendar. December 2011. A picture of a snow covered tree, small animals huddled together under it. As I pondered why I would have a calendar, I noticed circles. Eight of them, I counted naturally before looking at what was
Madness On the Rise: Part 1The words flowed softly through the darkness, around walls, past equipment, furniture, to nestle itself hauntingly in a single pair of ears, a sing song melody, pulling at memory.
"I believe. There is good. In everyone's heart."
Billy woke with a start, sitting up in his work chair, lines across his face from the notebook he fell asleep across mere minutes before. Eyes sunken and red rimmed from working until he passed out, he rubbed his eyes and looked around his lab.
"Hello? Is anyone there? Moist, is that you?"
Words, tones, whispered through the glass tubes surrounding him. "Keep it safe.", blew gently through the air.
Tears filled his eyes, and he turned to look across the hallway, at a large locked metal door. He stood, and walked slowly over. Pulling off a glove, he put his hand up to a shiny spot on the metal. it glowed red briefly, then bolts clicked and the door hissed open. As he stepped inside, lights flicked on automatically, illuminating r
Odyssey II : Chapter 4 : RunLysanna inhaled and breathed onto the mirrors. Wet air fogged the surface, vital moisture draining from her body, shortening her time further. Her eyes closed, her mind linked with her still nascent Progeny. "Lesson one, my heart. When your host is in danger, do... THIS"
Signals raced through Paul's body, machinery of the brain flipping, adrenalin pumping. "Run", Lysana whispered, the words echoing through Paul's mind. He flexed, and muscles made stronger by the chemicals in his blood bulged, straps parting, buckles flying off in all directions. One piece of metal caught Maya above the eye, she cursed and staggered back.
It was all the opening Paul needed. He rolled off the gurney, landing on his feet, and took off towards the sunlight, not knowing or caring if he saw a door or a window.
Paul kept running, legs pumping. Blood pounded in his veins, and his head cleared as he could feel the Proxital being burned off by his motion.
Maya pulled her knife, about
Endless beginningsShe falls back again
Where it all began
No longer a body
But a streak of light
She traverses through gates
That have no end
Still, she moves onward
Swiftly, like a train
Round and round she goes
Finishing what was left undone
No longer thinking about the pain
But looking forward at
The dawn on a brand-new day...
AwaitingMuted by a fading past, she struggles.
A mind overshadowed by terror,
Screeches out through the cries of many,
Proclaiming defeat at last.
"Zephyr", she heard whispered like a dream.
Shifting winds, are turning tides.
Desire, is filling the lungs,
Bursting full of jealousy.
A beating hope for light's,
Begun. Forever are the hopes of man.
One new beginning lay in wait;
A chance for a future at last.
The seas cry out relentlessly,
Straying away from a broken,
Past, letting new visions breathe.
Pulsing far and deep within,
Like a forest of fighting souls.
Reaching up to caw free from fate,
Out from the spirit's,
Whole. Destruction is the key.
A labyrinth of time is the path.
Where several trials await,
Awakened through eight gates.
Of future's unknown and dim,
With one shining bright, without sin.
Through the binding threads of reality,
She shall soar in the skies.
To where it all began long ago,
A world beyond Tokyo;
Of where none must venture towards.
Through the everlasting dark days,
Keep in Touch!
